Prompt paediatric care for minor illness and injury
Children do not plan when they become sick or injured. SNAC provides prompt assessment for concerns that should not wait for a routine appointment but do not require an emergency department.
We reserve appointments in each clinic session to provide same- or next-clinic access where capacity allows.
Dr Tash has extensive experience assessing children with acute illnesses and injuries. QuickStix focuses on lower-acuity concerns that can be safely assessed and managed in a community clinic.

Mild-to-moderate croup
Mild asthma attacks
Fever in children over three months old
Sore throat
Ear pain
Skin infections
Urinary tract infections
Minor head injuries
Acute abdominal Pain
Vomiting and/or diarrhoea
Constipation with acute symptoms
Concerns about mild dehydration
Limb injuries without deformity
Sprains, strains
Possible minor fractures (no limb deformity)
Minor lacerations
Rashes
Eczema flares
Newborn concerns referred by a maternal and child health nurse, including feeding, weight, jaundice or rashes
QuickStix is NOT an emergency service. If your child needs emergency care, call 000 or go directly to your nearest emergency department.
Call 000 now if your child:
✘ is abnormally drowsy, floppy or confused
✘ cannot be woken or is not responding or interacting normally
✘ is struggling to breathe, has stridor at rest, cannot catch their breath or is turning blue or grey
✘ has a seizure for the first time, a seizure lasting more than five minutes, or does not wake after a seizure
Attend an Emergency Department promptly if your child:
✘ is less than three months old with a temperature of 38°C or higher
✘ has significantly laboured or effortful breathing
✘ has mottled, pale, blue or cold skin
✘ has a non-blanching rash that does not disappear when pressed, particularly if they appear unwell or have a fever
✘ has a severe or persistent headache, particularly with neck stiffness or sensitivity to light
✘ has lost consciousness or has repeated vomiting after a head injury
✘ has suddenly become unable to walk without an obvious injury
✘ has not returned to their usual baseline after a seizure

What happens after you request an appointment?
All SNAC requests are reviewed promptly to confirm that QuickStix is an appropriate and safe option for your child.
After you request an appointment, our team will review the information provided and confirm the booking or contact you if another service would be more appropriate.
You may be asked to upload photographs securely through Healthengine if they could assist with triage.
Do not delay emergency care while waiting for us to review your request. If your child may be seriously unwell, call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.
