Rapid access Paediatric care when your child needs it.
When something is wrong with your child, waiting weeks or months for an appointment can feel impossible—particularly when the problem does not require an emergency department but still needs experienced medical assessment.
QuickStix was created by Dr Tash Thomson, a local mum, former health teacher and specialist paediatrician who has seen these gaps from both sides: as a clinician and as a parent.

Meet Dr Tash

Specialist Paediatrician | Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Dr Tash is a specialist paediatrician with a subspecialty in paediatric emergency medicine and more than 15 years' experience in children's healthcare. She trained at Melbourne's largest specialist children's hospitals, as well as metropolitan, regional and interstate centres. She also continues to work in two of Melbourne's busiest paediatric emergency departments.
Before studying medicine, Dr Tash qualified as a secondary health teacher. Education remains central to the way she practises: helping families understand what may be happening, why a particular approach is recommended and what they should do next.
As the founder of QuickStix Paediatrics, Dr Tash is committed to making thoughtful paediatric care easier to access. She combines evidence-based medicine with genuine partnership, taking time to listen, explain and develop a practical plan with each family.
Warm and down-to-earth, Dr Tash believes every family deserves to feel heard and supported—and to leave with a clearer understanding of their child's care.

Children’s healthcare does not always fit neatly into the options families currently have.
Some problems need more than a routine appointment but do not require an emergency department. Other children need paediatric assessment within weeks rather than months, or timely follow-up after receiving care through ED, Virtual ED or hospital.
Dr Tash sees these gaps every day— as a paediatric emergency physician and local mum.
QuickStix exists to help fill them.
Because good care is not only about reaching a diagnosis. It is also about listening to the whole story, helping families understand uncertainty and providing a clear plan for what happens next.
We are starting with rapid-access paediatric care in the community. Over time, QuickStix will continue to grow and explore better ways of connecting children and families with the right care, at the right time.

Our Clinic
QuickStix is located within the broader Beingwell community at Hawthorn Village where we share a welcoming and calm space with clinicians from a range of health disciplines.
We provide timely, thoughtful care for babies, children and young people—whether something feels urgent, follow-up is needed after a hospital visit, or a family needs clarity about an ongoing medical concern.
We are beginning with rapid-access appointments, newborn and well-child checks, and follow-up after emergency department, Virtual ED and hospital care.
